Hi! I'm Tia.
I am a first-year graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University pursuing an MS in Artificial Intelligence and Innovation. I graduated top of my class with a high first from The University of Edinburgh with a BSc (Hons) in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science. My undergraduate thesis on mitigating dataset bias in computer vision [pdf] was supervised by Prof. Ajitha Rajan received an outstanding paper classification. Currently, I am interested in pursuing an academic career in computational linguistics with a focus in ethics.
I am currently conducting research under Prof. Alan W. Black on a project involving numerical processing for speech synthesis and serving as a teaching assistant for the 11-737 Multilingual NLP class under Prof. Graham Neubig at Carnegie Mellon University.
Previously, I have worked as an intern at Goldman Sachs, Google, YouTube, Amazon and JP Morgan. I’ve also conducted research and taught some classes in my undergraduate university, The University of Edinburgh.
